thelivingfilm @ 02:55 pm: a project on miscarriages (xposted)
Hi, I'm new to the community. This might seem a bit unorthodox but I am a photographer who is currently creating a body of photographs on the topic of miscarriages as a way to educate people on their prevalence and the types of experiences that women have because of them (though I am also interested in hearing from partners too).

If you are interested in reading a bit more about the project, please read the rest of the post after the LJ cut. Thank you. :)

Just thought i'd give fellow parents a heads up on this. Amazon is giving a free 3 month trial to all parents right now: Amazon Mom- free Amazon Prime trial

It's called Amazon Mom but it's aimed at anyone who takes care of a child. For those unfamiliar with Amazon Prime, it is a service that usually costs $79 a year that gives you free 2 day shipping and $3.99 overnight shipping.

Playgroups are a great way for kids to learn to socialize, share with others and be exposed to new ways of play. It’s great for Mom too! You'll meet other moms in the area and share advice and stories. We are a small playgroup so members and their children can get to know each other better and see the same faces at Playdates. This helps kids build confidence so they can build friendships. We meet every mom in person before allowing them to access the group. This ensures the privacy of our members and group information.

We offer:
~Free membership
~3-4 playdates a week
~Opportunities to build friendships for your child(ren) AND yourself
~A forum to chat about everyday life or parenting questions.
~ Coupon Train
~ Book Club

Fun things we do include:
~Potluck parties (for the entire family, not just mom & kids)
~Mom’s Night Out
~Coffee dates
~Beach/Park dates
~Venues such as The Space Center, Zoo, Libraries
~Lunch dates @ kid friendly areas
~Gathering at members homes for crafts, snacks & play time
Email us at MommiesinClearLake@gmail.com or visit https://www.bigtent.com/groups/micl and we will get back to you with information about upcoming playdates!

carmelncal @ 12:50 pm: Hey Mom Bloggers!
Hi Mom Bloggers, I am helping Alexis Martin Neely launch her new book, "Wear Clean Underwear: A Fast, Fun, Friendly - and Essential - Guide to Legal Planning for Busy Parents. With her savvy book Wear Clean Underwear, Alexis helps parents understand how important – and easy – legal planning is for parents. You can find out more info on the book at www.wearcleanunderwearbook.com.

So why am I writing you?

For each mom blogger who reviews the book on or before May 7, we will offer a comprehensive Kids Protection Plan counseled and prepared by a celebrity lawyer, Alexis Martin Neely. This is a great value, as an attorney prepared Kids Protection Plan is normally $1,000. And, because Alexis Martin Neely is no longer seeing new clients, this offer is truly priceless.

Let me know if you can review the book by May 7th. We would love your participation. Please contact me at alicia@wealthygirlsummit.com if you are interested.

I have some listings on Craigslist I'd love to see gone. Most prices are negotiable. The Sofa set is my in-laws' and I can put them in contact with you if you're interested. If more pictures or further details are necessary, please feel free to either email me through the listing or leave a comment here. Because I'm cross-posting, I'll place the list behind a cut. Please note: I am willing to make some exceptions to my rules and requirements to fellow LJers, so if you respond via Craigslist, please let me know you found the sale via LJ!

tiffuchan @ 02:37 pm: Hello!
I've recently become a new mother, and am very interested in meeting some fellow mommy friends! Here's a bit more about me:

Name: Tiff

Status: Married

Age: 25

Location: Corsicana, Texas...about an hour south of the DFW area.

Children: 2 week old son, Michael Thomas

Hobbies: Crafts (particularly jewelry-making and beadwork), music, reading, movies, anime/manga, computers, video games

More about me: I am a teacher, usually teaching early childhood (pre-K to 1st), but have had to take a small break from that when I became ill during my pregnancy. I am currently a retail slave, but am trying to get back into education asap. I live in a small Texas town with my husband, son, and two cats.

I enjoy arts and crafts, and make jewelry as a main hobby. I hope to extend that into a part-time business, and be able to sell my crafts online or in shops/venues. I also enjoy movies, books, computers, and anime/manga. My husband and I are big into movies (especially Disney!) and books (particularly fantasy and horror). I love to travel, and grew up around the world as a military daughter. Some of my favorite TV shows are Friends, Family Guy, Futurama, and game shows. I don't enjoy cooking (though I love baking), and issues such as animal cruelty and bad/neglectful/abusive parenting make my blood boil.

I have been told I'm easy to get along with, though I am sarcastic and very honest by nature. I'm very open-minded and have a love of learning. I avoid drama whenever possible, and am very easygoing. It's hard for me to make friends in such a small area, as most people don't share my interests, and so I'd love to at least meet more people I can talk and relate to. My husband and I would really like to meet some fellow parents/friends who hopefully share the same interests.

Thanks for reading, and I hope I can make some great friends here!
